SONGS AND OTHER FORMS OF ART (literature…)

OBJECTIVES

1.get engaged into a literature unit
2.reflect upon the language of music, considering imagery, literary and language devices
3.be able to create various literary devices
4.work together exchanging opinions, ideas and suggestions

CONTENT

- examples of poems/ novels made into songs ballads : Bob Dylan, De Andrè What is it (may remind of Blake’s London), Wuthering Heights, (based on the novel)
-analyse a song in terms of a poem: similes, alliteration, rhyme…

METHODOLOGY

The same as in part 2?

.POETRY AND MUSIC ARE VERY MUCH RELATED.

Do you know of any poem which has been made into a song? Or a song which refers to a poem, novel, play????

ACTIVITY 1: Analyse and discuss the song "The Ghost of Tom Joad" by Bruce Springsteen, and the book: "The Grapes of Wrath" by John Steinbeck.

ACTIVITY 2: Choose two songs that you like from the lists. Write the lyrics, analyse them and compare them to references to the literary work they are inspired from.
